Women’s Volleyball: Long Beach cruises to three-game sweep over Trade Tech
The Long Beach City College women’s volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 South Coast Conference win over visiting Los Angeles Trade Tech College on Wednesday night.

The Vikings won the match by scores of 25-8, 25-12, and 25-11. The win improved Long Beach to 10-8 overall and evened its SCC record at 5-5.
The match was never in doubt for the Vikings. LBCC opened set one with a 6-2 lead. Trade Tech got as close as 12-8 in the first before Long Beach took advantage of eight Trade Tech errors and rallied off 13 consecutive points behind the serving of sophomore outside hitter Vanessa Ray to close out the opening-set win.
In set two, sophomore Seferina Starks led LBCC with five of her match-high eight kills on the night. And in the third, Long Beach posted eight aces, including three from Starks, to close out the match.
Starks led all with eight kills, five aces, and added 10 digs. Ray and freshman Celina Yandall both totaled seven kills, while sophomore Megann Capic led the Vikings with 13 digs. Sophomore Cashmere Santos and freshman Kelsey Dix both posted 16 assists to lead LBCC.
For Trade Tech (0-13, 0-10 SCC), Mariah Williams posted five kills and five digs. Justina Romo totaled 12 digs and Janette Gill had a team-high seven assists.
Long Beach returns to action on Friday (Nov. 5) at 6 pm when it hosts Mt. San Antonio College in a conference match.
