Women’s Soccer: Long Beach gets No. 16 seed for Southern California Regionals
The Long Beach City College women’s soccer team is returning to the postseason after a one-year absence. On Tuesday, LBCC received the No. 16 and final seed for the 2010 Southern California Regional Playoffs. Long Beach is making its 10th playoff appearance in 11 years.

The Vikings have a tough journey ahead as they will travel face top-seed Los Angeles Pierce College on Saturday (Nov. 20) at 2 p.m. The winner will face either No. 8 Santa Monica or No. 9 El Camino on Tuesday (Nov. 23) in a second-round match.
Long Beach closed the regular season with a 10-9-2 overall record and was fifth in the South Coast Conference with a 7-6-1 record.
Pierce is unbeaten this season at 19-0-2 and cruised to a Western State Conference championship with a 13-0-1 record.
The two squads met early in the season. On September 24, Pierce edged the Vikings 1-0 in Long Beach.
Long Beach looks to win its seventh state championship overall and first since 2005.
Two regional finalists will advance to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Soccer State Championships on December 3 & 5 at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.
