Men’s Water Polo: Vikings stay undefeated in SCC play with 17-6 win over Chaffey
The No. 5 state-ranked Long Beach City College men’s water polo team cruised to a 17-6 South Coast Conference win over visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.
The No. 5 state-ranked Long Beach City College men's water polo team cruised to a 17-6 South Coast Conference win over visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday.
The win improved the Vikings to 12-4 overall and keeps them unbeaten in conference play at 4-0.
Long Beach built an early lead and never looked back. LBCC opened the contest with a pair of goals from sophomore Janko Javanovic and a single goal from freshman Nemanja Jokanovic within the first two minutes of the game to set the tone early.
The Vikings held a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and were up 10-4 at halftime.
12 different Vikings scored in the contest with freshman Tony Frens leading the way with three goals. Freshmen Richard Kun and Nicholas Urey along with Jovanovic all scored twice.
Christopher Ward and Adam Oakes led Chaffey (4-11 overall, 1-3 SCC) with two goals each.
The LBCC men return to action on Friday (Oct. 15) when they will play at the Golden West College mini tournament. On Saturday (Oct. 16), the Vikings will hold the annual alumni game at LBCC at 4:15 pm.
