Men’s Water Polo: LBCC goes 4-0 at Golden West tournament to open season

The Vikings opened opening-round play on Friday with a 10-5 win over Orange Coast and then came back later in the day to defeat L.A. Valley 10-5.
On Saturday, Long Beach cruised to a 12-6 win over Mt. San Antonio in the tournament semifinals to set up a rematch of the 2009 state championship final against host and state No. 1-ranked Golden West. Long Beach came up with the big win, beating the Rustlers by a final score of 8-5. Eric Doyle and Tristen Winterhalter led LBCC with two goals each. Scott Butler led a great defensive effort for the Vikings, while Vince Ward had nine saves in goal.
The LBCC men's water polo team return to action on Wednesday (Sept. 15) when it opens up the home and South Coast Conference schedule at 3 p.m. against El Camino.
