Men’s Soccer: Aguirre scores hat-trick in season-opener at Orange Coast

LBCC goalkeeper Jorge Beccera picked up five saves en route to victory.
The Pirates (0-1) struggled in the first half, but managed to improve their play over the second half. Coast cut the deficit to 3-1 in the 52nd minute when Luis Salgado headed in a loose ball off a shot that rang off the crossbar by Callon Campbell.
Coast had another chance to get to within a goal when Saul Sanchez came down the middle with a point-blank shot, but Beccera stepped up and made the sliding stop.
Pirates' goalkeeper Alan Vilchez had five saves, including a couple of point-blank stops off the foot of Aguirre.
Long Beach (1-0-1) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept 7) when it hosts Cuyamaca College at 4 p.m.
