The Long Beach City College men's soccer team earned a 0-0 South Coast Conference tie against No. 2 nationally-ranked Mt. San Antonio College on Friday at LBCC.
It was the Vikings' second straight shutout and it came just a week after LBCC downed another nationally-ranked opponent, then No. 4 Cerritos College 3-1 last Friday at home.
"We wanted to win," said LBCC co-head coach Cameron Beaulac. "But we aren't disappointed with a tie against a good team like Mt. SAC."
The draw moved Long Beach's record to 5-3-5 overall and 2-1-3 in South Coast Conference play.
Long Beach was outshot by an 11-2 margin in the contest, but the defense played tough and sophomore goalie Luis Romero made two saves and came off the line to break up numerous Mt. SAC scoring chances to keep the Mounties off the board.
Alfredo Ontiveros made one save in goal for Mt. SAC (9-1-2, 3-1-2 SCC).
Long Beach returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 19) when it travels to El Camino College – Compton Center for a 4 p.m. conference game.
