April 27, 2012 Track & Field: Long Beach qualifies 12 for Southern California Regionals Long Beach City College has qualified for 12 events for next week’s Southern California Championships after its performance at the South Coast Conference Finals at Compton College on Friday. The LBCC women qualified in six individual events and will send both relay teams while the Viking men qualified three individuals and one relay team for the regional preliminaries.

Steven Gallardo, a sophomore right-handed starting pitcher for Long Beach City College, threw a 10-inning, no-hitter on April 27 over Compton College in a 1-0 South Coast Conference win at LBCC's Joe Hicks Memorial Field. It was the first no-hitter in school history.

Long Beach City College freshman Christine MacLennan was named the South Coast Conference Co-Swimmer of the Year after a three-win performance at the 2012 SCC Championships.
Rob McLean - Men's Volleyball Rob McLean - Men's Volleyball
Rob McLean, a sophomore outside hitter, helped lead Long Beach City College to the 2012 CCCAA Men’s Volleyball State Championship. McLean was named the State Championship Most Valuable Player after totaling 31 kills, 10 blocks, and seven digs at the state tournament.
