Vikings Sweep Cerritos for Seventh Straight Victory
The Long Beach City College women's volleyball team extended its impressive win streak to seven matches with a dominant 3–0 sweep over conference rival Cerritos College on Friday night at the Hall of Champions Gym.
The Vikings (9–8, 3–0 South Coast Conference) overpowered the Falcons in straight sets by scores of 25–16, 25–13, and 25–22, marking their sixth consecutive shutout victory.
Sophomore Kyla Jones led the way at the net with nine kills and five blocks, while Ryleeh Tuaolo added eight kills and six total blocks in a commanding two-way performance. Marissa Krebs chipped in seven kills with a .455 hitting percentage, and Tyreana Allen contributed six kills, three aces, and nine digs to round out the attack.
Setter Emeli Muagututi'a directed the offense with 15 assists, and Camille Agrupis added six more as the Vikings hit .200 as a team and tallied eight service aces on the night.
Defensively, Long Beach limited Cerritos to a negative hitting percentage (-.044) while collecting 41 digs and nine team blocks.
With the win, Long Beach improves to 3–0 in conference play.
The Vikings will look to continue their hot streak when they travel to L.A. Harbor on Wednesday, October 15, with first serve set for 6 p.m.
