A year after both sharing first place finishes with fellow rivals, Mt. San Antonio and Long Beach City Colleges separated themselves to win their respective South Coast Conference women's volleyball championships in 2025.
Ranked #9 in the latest CCCWVCA State Top 25, Mt. SAC (21-5) went undefeated at 8-0 to win the SCC North Division title after tying for the '24 crown with #15-ranked Pasadena City. It was the Mounties' fourth conference title in its history, all since 2016.
Long Beach, ranked #11 with a 16-9 record, recovered from a 2-8 start to the year by winning 14 straight matches, including an 8-0 run to the SCC South crown, leaving behind second-place Cerritos, which it shared the title with last season. The Vikings collected their 10th conference first-place trophy.
On Nov. 14, Mt. SAC stopped the Long Beach win streak in a 5-set marathon over the Vikings, 19-25, 25-23, 30-28, 15-25, 15-12, as the conference implemented a new crossover to end the regular season where teams face their like places from each division. The Mounties avenged a 3-set loss to LBCC back in September.
While Mt. SAC, Long Beach and Pasadena (19-6) will all gain playoff seeds to released on Tuesday, the coaches put together the All-SCC Team over a zoom meeting on Sunday evening.
Mt. San Antonio earned hardware as outside hitter Sydney Valentine was named North Most Valuable Player, Mayah Tiscareno picked Libero of the Year, and head coach Samantha Neely picked up her second straight Coach of the Year award. PCC OH Bobbie Torres was chosen Freshman of the Year.
The South MVP was Vikings' middle blocker Ryleeh Tuaolo, who led the conference in blocks average (0.89 average per set, 70 total), Libero of the Year was conference digs leader Cerritos' Roselyn Tobie (5.59 digs per set), Freshman of the Year went to LBCC OH Kyla Jones, and Coach of the Year awarded to the Vikings' Tyler Jackson.
El Camino middle blocker Amiekal Looney joined Tiscareno and PCC middle blocker Delaney Blied as State Players of the Week during the '25 season.
