SCC Women's Soccer: South Champ LBCC Wins Tourney Title Over North Titleist Mt. SAC

Long Beach City College, the South Division champions, downed North Division champ Mt. San Antonio, 2-1, to capture the annual South Coast Conference Tournament title at Rio Hondo College on Nov. 13.
The two programs each collected their fourth consecutive division crowns.
The state #3-ranked Vikings, 17-1-1 overall, rallied from being down 1-0 at halftime, tying the tourney championship game on a goal by Natalia Delgado Gomez in the 58th minute. In the 77th minute, Laila Alfadheil scored what proved to be the game-winner.
LBCC won the SCC South with a perfect 8-0 record against all conference opponents. Ranked #15, Mt. SAC (13-4-3) finished 7-1 to win the North Division title. The Mounties had taken a 1-0 lead on a goal by Nadine Padilla in the 15th minute.
Mt. SAC reached the title contest thanks to a 4-1 win v. defending tourney champ Pasadena City in the Nov. 10 semifinals as Yuliana Jimenez and Madison Shaw scored first-half goals to allow the Mounties to take control.
Long Beach scored a 5-0 win over Cerritos in the semifinals as Alfadheil had a goal and an assist that helped the Vikings to an early 2-0 lead.
THIRD PLACE FINAL: Pasadena City 4, Cerritos 1: The #18-ranked Lancers used a goal and a conference-leading 10th assist of the season from Isabella Nersesyan to take third place in the tourney. Aiden Ochoa scored for the Falcons.
FIFTH PLACE FINAL: El Camino 3, East Los Angeles 0: Isabella Licata scored a pair of goals and Jordan Stemberga made four saves as the Warriors place fifth in the tourney.
SEVENTH PLACE FINAL: LA Harbor 1, Los Angeles City 0: Alexia Leon scored the game's lone goal in the 74th minute as the Seahawks gain seventh at the tourney.

Long Beach's Lorena Moreno was a repeat winner of the SCC South Offensive Player of the Year, Viking Mary Gonzalez was South Goalie of the Year, and LBCC's Charlie Grace was one of the three players who were Tri-Defenders of the Year to highlight that division's 33-player All-Conference selections. Long Beach head coach Tino Nunez was selected SCC South Coach of the Year. El Camino's Sophia Hudson was a repeat Defender of the Year while Cerritos' Jenna Santos was the other top defender.
On the North side, it was a clean sweep for Mt. SAC as Eden Martinez took home Offensive Player of the Year honors, Samantha Sanchez was Defensive Player of the Year, Zanette Gonzalez scored Goalie of the Year, and head coach Juan Sanchez was named Coach of the Year. Twenty-seven players from the North's four teams were chosen for All-SCC recognition.
