Women’s Basketball: No. 13 Vikings rout Mesa 71-37 to open SAC tourney

Long Beach, now 3-0, will face Moorpark College on Friday at 6 p.m. in the tournament semifinals.
The Vikings trailed early 4-2 before a 14-0 run gave them a commanding 16-4 advantage at the 12:47 mark in the first half. LBCC led 36-19 at halftime and was up 62-31 with 6:47 left in the game.
Long Beach turned up the defensive pressure by forcing 36 San Diego Mesa turnovers and totaled 22 steals.
King added six steals and seven rebounds to her 14 points. Freshman center Crystal Cockerhan had a big game off the bench with 10 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocks.
