Little Rock Baseball Stuns LSU In NCAA Regionals — Fueled by Former LBCC Vikings
Leading the charge for Little Rock baseball are Vikings baseball alumni Ryan Geck, Reef Danner, and Alex Seguine.
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock baseball team garnered national attention with a thrilling upset over No. 6 LSU in the NCAA Regionals this weekend, and leading the charge were three former Long Beach City College (LBCC) Vikings: Ryan Geck, Reef Danner, and Alex Seguine.
Little Rock delivered a statement performance that now ranks among the most significant wins in Trojan baseball history. The victory moves Little Rock into the regional final and within reach of a Super Regionals berth.
Ryan Geck, Little Rock's versatile designated hitter, is currently hitting .298 with 51 RBIs on the season. A two-year standout at LBCC, Geck was ranked No. 8 in the state during his time as a Viking and helped lead the program to a Super Regional appearance. In 2024, he earned Second Team All-South Coast Conference honors at first base.
Reef Danner, another two-year Viking, was named Second Team All-South Coast Conference as a second baseman in 2024 after posting a .351 batting average, scoring 39 runs, and recording 52 hits. Danner has is bringing the same competitive edge he showed in Long Beach to the Trojans.
Alex Seguine, Little Rock's starting shortstop and leadoff hitter, is batting .253 and was named to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Tournament Team after tallying seven hits over five games. Seguine made a critical play against LSU, scoring on a wild pitch that swung momentum in the Trojans' favor. At LBCC, he was a two-year player in 2020 and 2022, finishing with a .372 batting average. He earned First Team All-South Coast Conference honors and later signed with semi-pro team, the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.
With the win, Little Rock advances to the regional final and will face No. 6 LSU once again tonight for a chance to punch their ticket to the Super Regionals, where West Virginia awaits.
The contributions of Geck, Danner, and Seguine continue to showcase the strength of Long Beach City College's baseball program and its ability to develop talent ready for the national stage.
