The LBCC doubles team of sophomore Jasmine Hyacinth and freshman Maria Gonzalez pulled off an upset win over the No. 12-seeded duo of Sally Finney and Coral Imhoff of Santa Rosa Junior College on Thursday, but lost to No. 5 seed Sarah Garcia and Samantha Schwartz in a third-round match on Friday at the 2016 CCCAA Tennis State Championship.

The Long Beach City College doubles team of sophomore Jasmine Hyacinth and freshman Maria Gonzalez have earned a spot in the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Tennis State Championship tournament, set for April 21-24 in Ventura County.

Long Beach City College snaped a five-match losing streak thanks to a 9-0 South Coast Conference win at Victor Valley College on Thursday. LBCC improved to 2-10 overall and 2-5 in conference play with both victories coming against Victor Valley.

The Long Beach City College women’s tennis team closed out a tough week of action with consecutive losses. On Thursday, LBCC suffered a 9-0 South Coast Conference loss at Rio Hondo College and then played visiting Orange Coast College to a 7-2 non-conference defeat on Friday.
