Track and Field: Vikings improve on season-best marks at California Relays
Both the Long Beach City College men’s and women’s track and field teams were in action on Friday at the California Relays at Cerritos College.

The LBCC men once again compiled some impressive performances.
The 4x100 relay team of Derek Speight, Kiree Jabril, Jonathan Sanders, and Daveon Collins ran a season-best time of 42.11, that was good for a fourth place finish.
Also running season-best times in the 110 high hurdles were Marquan Jackson (14.87) and Bejon Bryant (15.43) as both continue to improve with every performance. In the men's 100, Collins (10.92) and Jabril (10.94) both ran season best marks as well.
In the 400, Sanders ran a 49.97 in his quarter mile debut. Corey Winston improved on his season-best mark in the triple jump to 47'9".
This highlight of the meet for the Vikings was definitely the 4x200m relay. A team of Speight, Jabril, Sanders, and Collins ran a winning-time of 1:26.02 to break the meet record by more than two and a half seconds.
On the women's side, the Vikings came away with four season best marks.
Once again leading the way was Ashley Craddock. Her season-best time of 12.47 in the 100 was good enough for sixth place. She also teamed with Jessica Sheffield, Stephanique Brown, and Phillisha Nunley for the 4x100 relay to take third place with a season-best time of 49.55.
Mary Onuohah tossed the discus a season-best 35.14 meters for first place in her flight and 10th overall. In the 800, Carissa Kildall ran a season-best time of 2:37.16 for fourth place in her heat and 14th overall.
The LBCC men and women return to action on Friday (Mar 25) when they travel to Riverside City College for the RCC open.
