The Long Beach City College men's soccer team delivered one of its most complete performances of the season, stunning No. 2 ranked El Camino with a commanding 6–0 home victory Friday afternoon.
The Vikings (4–4–3, 2–0–0 conference) wasted no time setting the tone, scoring four first-half goals to take full control of the match. Sophomore forward Cesar Garcia Solorzano led the charge with a hat trick, finding the back of the net in the 18th, 19th, and 70th minutes. Eric Diaz added goals in the 26th and 38th minutes, while Julian Zarate capped the scoring in the 65th minute.
"Obviously getting a hat trick is a great feeling," said Garcia Solorzano. "But you gotta give credit to my teammates and the coaches because the coaches have a plan and we just executed it today."
Long Beach's relentless attack kept El Camino on the defensive for much of the match, outshooting the Warriors 20–6 and holding them to just two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Fabio Ardizzoia recorded two saves to earn the clean sheet.
Long Beach's organization and pace in transition proved to be the deciding factor. The Vikings' midfield absorbed pressure and stayed composed even after the Warriors were reduced to ten men following a red card late in the first half.
"It was really nice to see our guys stay disciplined throughout the game and finish our opportunities," said Head Assistant Coach Cameron Beaulac. "But this is only game two of a nine-game conference season."
The win marks Long Beach's second straight conference victory, giving them momentum heading into the heart of South Coast Conference play. The Vikings will be back in action on the road Tuesday, October 14, when they face L.A. Harbor.
