After an undefeated last week of the preseason, followed by an intense full week of training, and multiple injured players coming back, the Vikings visited the Huskies of ELAC, and came away with a 4-1 victory.
Although Long Beach outshot ELAC in the first half 6-4, the score remained 0-0 at intermission. Two minutes into the second half the Huskies would score on a direct free kick from 37 yards out. Nine minutes later, Cesar Garcia Solorzano would send in a cross to the far post that Jiro Uchida headed into the goal. One minute later Garcia Solorzano would provide another assist with a cross that Julian Zarate headed in for the lead and eventual game winner. 21 minutes later, Joshua Grado received a pass from Jordi Pineda and set himself up with a blast in the upper V from 30 yards out. Luke Garza would finish the scoring in minute 83 with an acrobatic flying kick off of an assist from Duane Baker. Goalkeeper Fabio Ardizzoia would play the full ninety and record one save for the day. All field players were able to play in the contest.
Long Beach next plays on Friday, 2:00 p.m., at the Viking Soccer Complex versus state #2 ranked El Camino College.
