The Long Beach City College men's soccer team showed resilience at home, rallying from a two-goal deficit to tie College of the Desert, 2-2, on Friday afternoon.
The Roadrunners jumped out early with goals in the 8th and 31st minutes to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. But the Vikings responded quickly after the break. In the 53rd minute, Joshua Grado put Long Beach on the board with a finish assisted by Cesar Garcia Solorzano. Just three minutes later, Garcia Solorzano evened the score himself, converting off a setup from Jordi Pineda to make it 2-2.
Long Beach outshot Desert 21-2 in the match, with Garcia Solorzano leading the attack with four shots, including a goal and an assist. Grado added three shots and the opening goal of the comeback effort.
The Vikings will look to build on the draw when they travel to East Los Angeles College on Tuesday, Oct. 7, for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
