The Long Beach City College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against San Diego City on Tuesday evening.
The Vikings struck first in the opening half as sophomore midfielder Jordi Pineda buried a shot off an assist from Asael Sales, putting Long Beach on the board. The Knights answered back before halftime, but the Viking defense held strong the rest of the way.
Goalkeeper Christopher Ramirez anchored the back line with four saves on five shots on goal, keeping San Diego City from finding the go-ahead score. Offensively, Long Beach kept the pressure on with 17 total shots, led by Pineda with four attempts and three more from Julian Zarate.
With the tie, the Vikings will host College of the Desert at home on Friday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m.
