MONTEREY PARK – Bonard Johnson Jr's deep three-pointer with 3:46 left in the second half gave No. 24 state-ranked Long Beach City College a narrow 84-81 advantage at East Los Angeles College. But the lead wouldn't last long as the No. 12-ranked Huskies responded with a 12-0 run to hand the Vikings a 95-85 South Coast Conference interdivision loss on Saturday.
Johnson did all he could to keep LBCC in the game. He nailed 6 three-pointers on his way to a team-high 22 points.
Kameron Mayhan added 18 points and 7 rebounds, Chris Herrera totaled 13 points and 9 assists, while Lorenzo Marsh scored 12 points.
Long Beach closed out the 2022 calendar year with a 10-5 overall record. The Vikings will take a break for the holidays and return to action on Jan. 6 when they host Rio Hondo College in a SCC crossover game at 5 p.m.
