Vikings Roll Past Santa Ana with Dominant 52–21 Victory
The Long Beach City College football team delivered a dominating performance from start to finish in a 52–21 victory over Santa Ana College on Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Vikings (3–4, 3–1 conference) controlled every phase of the game, piling up 506 yards of total offense while holding Santa Ana to just 254 yards and forcing multiple turnovers. Long Beach's passing attack set the tone early as quarterback Wyatt McCauley threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns, and Allen Fernett added 123 yards and two scores in the second half.
McCauley got the Vikings on the board in the first quarter with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Justin Auston before connecting with Kyle Brown, Owen Tomich, and Ike White for additional scores. Brown led all receivers with 104 yards and two touchdowns, while Tomich added 102 yards and one touchdown.
On the ground, Imari Conway anchored the run game with 59 rushing yards and a touchdown, and the Vikings' offensive line consistently controlled the line of scrimmage, allowing just two sacks all afternoon. Kicker Ethan Smithlin was perfect on special teams, converting all seven extra points and a 22-yard field goal.
Defensively, Long Beach was equally dominant, forcing a fumble recovered by Jordan Rodgers Snyder and holding Santa Ana to just one touchdown through the first three quarters. Anthony Edwards, Steewell Leboucher, and Kaden Draper each made key plays to smother the Dons' offense, while the defensive unit totaled 64 tackles and two sacks.
The victory was Long Beach's third conference win in four games and third 50-point outing of the season.
The Vikings will look to keep their momentum rolling when they travel to Mt. San Antonio on Thursday, Oct. 23, for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
