It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bryan Braman, a former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end and proud Long Beach City College football alumnus.
Braman made a lasting impact at LBCC, where he arrived after redshirting at the University of Idaho. As a Viking, he was a dominant defensive end, earning First-Team Southern California Football Association All-Southern Conference honors in both 2007 and 2008. Beyond the gridiron, Bryan also competed for the LBCC track and field team as a javelin thrower, showcasing his athleticism and dedication to Viking athletics.
LBCC Football Assistant Coach Neo Aoga shared, "Bryan is one of the greatest players I've ever coached and seen at LBCC. His journey had its share of highs and lows, but through the mentorship of Coach Jim Murphy and his resilience, he pushed through every challenge. Bryan not only advanced to the next level of collegiate football but also carved out a long, successful career in the NFL. As coaches who witnessed his growth, we couldn't be more proud of everything he's accomplished, especially becoming a Super Bowl champion."
Former LBCC Assistant Coach Mike Reisbig also reflected on Braman's legacy: "Bryan was a tremendous athlete and man, who had his life cut too short. Bryan overcame many obstacles and challenges to become the person and football player he was. He never backed down from a challenge and earned everything he worked for. It was a tremendous honor to have known and coached him. He will be missed by all."
His talent and determination eventually led him to the NFL, where he achieved the pinnacle of professional football success by winning a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. In the years that followed, Bryan remained connected to LBCC and returned to visit the campus that helped shape his path.
The Long Beach City College athletics community mourns the loss of Bryan Braman and extends our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and former teammates. His legacy will always live on at LBCC.
