Bio

Teila Robertson returns for her fifth season as an assistant coach under Suzie Witmer in 2011. Robertson brings an extensive coaching and playing background to Long Beach City College.

Robertson was a standout at nearby Carson High School, graduating in 1989, before continuing her playing career at Cal Baptist University.

In 1992, she helped lead CBU to the national championship tournament and was named first-team all-tournament. Robertson went on to earn second-team All-American, first-team All-Golden State Athletic Conference, and first-team All-District honors.

Robertson began her coaching career in Long Beach in 1999, serving as the girl’s volleyball head coach at Jordan High School (1999-2003). In 2002, she led Jordan to its first playoff appearance since 1989. Robertson was also an assistant coach for the CIF champion Jordan boy’s volleyball team in 2001.

Her club coaching experience dates back to 2000 when she served as director/coach of the Long Beach Starlings Volleyball Club (2000-05). Her 12’s, 14’s, and 16’s team all won Gold Division National Championships.

Also in 2005, Robertson served as an assistant coach for the SCVA High Performance 14’s team in Austin, Texas for a year.

Robertson returned to Southern California in 2006 and recently coached for the Long Beach Mizuno Beach Babes club.

Robertson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from Cal Baptist and her Masters degree in Education: Physical Education Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills.  Robertson was also recently named interim assistant athletic director for LBCC in 2011.
