Softball: Vikings cruise to 10-2 non-conference win over Mesa
Sophomore first baseman Michelle Contreras (Norwalk HS) went 3 for 3 including a homerun and 4 RBI to lead the Long Beach City College softball team to a 10-2 non-conference win over visiting San Diego Mesa College on Friday at LBCC.

The six-inning mercy rule win improved Long Beach to 14-7-1 overall.
The Vikings totaled 14 hits in the rout and scored two runs in every inning except the fifth.
Contreras had RBI singles in the first and second innings before blasting a two-run homerun to centerfield in the fourth.
Sophomore shortstop Melissa Schaefer (El Segundo HS) went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and sophomore second baseman Desiree Villegas (El Rancho HS) also had three hits (3 for 3) with a RBI.
Freshman Angela Arias (Western HS) went the distance in the win to improve to 6-6 overall. She allowed two runs and eight hits while striking out six.
Mallory Nicolet (1-1) picked up the loss for San Diego Mesa (13-7). She gave up 14 hits and seven earned runs in the complete-game effort. Rebecca Dawson went 2 for 2 with a RBI and two stolen bases to lead the Mesa offense.
Long Beach returns to action on Tuesday (Mar 22) when it hosts L.A. Harbor College in a 3 p.m. South Coast Conference game.
