Men’s Volleyball: McLean named State Athlete of the Month for April
Long Beach City College sophomore Rob McLean has been named the male State Athlete of the Month by the California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) and the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).

Men's Volleyball: Former Viking Chris Austin wins NCAA Championship
Former Viking Chris Austin helped lead UC Irvine to a men’s volleyball NCAA Championship on Saturday. Austin, the starting setter for the Anteaters, had 48 assists and 15 digs in the national championship final win over USC at the Galen Center.

Men’s Volleyball: Former Viking Chris Austin playing for NCAA Championship
Former Long Beach City College men’s volleyball standout Chris Austin will be playing in the NCAA National Championship final on Saturday for UC Irvine. The Anteaters will take on USC for the NCAA Division I national title on Saturday at 7 pm at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

Men's Volleyball: Long Beach defeats Orange Coast for State Championship
Tournament most valuable player Rob McLean totaled 15 kills and five blocks to help lead Long Beach City College to a 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 26-24) win over Orange Coast College in the championship final of the 2012 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Men’s Volleyball State Championship on Saturday night at LBCC’s Hall of Champions Gym.

Men's Volleyball: Long Beach downs Irvine Valley to reserve spot in state final

Men’s Volleyball: No. 1 Long Beach wraps up WSC title with sweep of ECC
No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College rolled to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-20 sweep of No. 2 El Camino College in a Western State Conference showdown on Friday at LBCC. With the win, the Vikings earned at least a share of the WSC championship.

Men’s Volleyball: No. 1 Long Beach falls to No. 9 Moorpark for second time
No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College has just two losses all season, but both have come from Moorpark College. On Wednesday with revenge on their minds, the Vikings suffered a 3-0 Western State Conference loss to the visiting ninth-ranked Raiders at home.

Men’s Volleyball: No. 1 Long Beach pushed to limit in 3-2 win over No. 5 Pierce
No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College overcame a controversial decision by the referees and won a marathon five-set match 3-2 over visiting No. 5 Los Angeles Pierce on Wednesday at LBCC. Sophomore Max Wechsung (pictured) led the Vikings with 33 assists and 14 kills.

Men’s Volleyball: No. 1 LBCC gets back on track with sweep of Santa Barbara
The No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College responded to its first loss of the season on Wednesday with a 25-22, 25-21, 25-17 sweep over No. 9 Santa Barbara City College on Friday at LBCC. The Western State Conference win improved the Vikings to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College needed just 59 minutes to defeat No. 10 Santa Monica College as the Vikings swept the Corsairs 25-20, 25-21, 25-11 on Friday. Freshman Greg Utupo (pictured) led the Vikings with seven kills.

No. 1 Long Beach sweeps No. 4 LA Pierce in WSC opener
No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College opened up the Western State Conference schedule with a 3-0 sweep at No. 4 Los Angeles Pierce College on Wednesday night. LBCC won the match in convincing fashion by scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-17. Brett Anema (pictured) posted five kills, five blocks and five digs in the win.

The No. 1 state-ranked Long Beach City College men’s volleyball cruised to a 3-0 sweep over visiting No. 5 state-ranked Orange Coast College on Friday at LBCC. The Vikings won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-19.

Men’s Volleyball: Vikings continue unbeaten run with sweep of Palomar
Long Beach City College continued its dominance early in the season as the Vikings cruised to a 3-0 sweep over visiting Palomar College on Wednesday. LBCC won the non-conference match by scores of 25-20, 25-17, and 25-15 to improve to 5-0 this season.

The Long Beach City College men’s volleyball team needed just 61 minutes to defeat visiting Grossmont College in both teams’ match-opener on Wednesday night at LBCC. Long Beach rolled to the three-set sweep of Grossmont by scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-14.

Men’s Volleyball: Vikings host LBCC Invitational Sunday to open 2012 season
It’s still only January, but spring sports at Long Beach City College slowly begin to get underway this weekend. On Sunday (Jan 31), the Vikings’ men’s volleyball team hosts the LBCC Invitational tournament to kick off the 2012 season. Co-head coaches Matt Silva and Jonathan Charette (pictured) begin their first season leading the program.
