Men’s Soccer Brings in All-SCC Accolades

It was recently announced by the South Coast Conference (SCC) that six Long Beach City College men's soccer players earned All-SCC South honors following a 3-2-3 record in conference. Freshman midfielder Ruben Menjivar, sophomore defender Julian Guerrero, and freshman defender Adrian Martinez all brought in first-team accolades, while freshman midfielder Oskar Raymundo, sophomore goalkeeper Andres Figueroa-Flores and sophomore midfielder Fabio Mujica all earned second-team honors.

Menjivar earned his first-career All-SCC award from being a force at midfield. He played in 20 games this season and started in 19. Menjivar scored three goals and had three assists throughout the season. He was reliable at midfield to keep the steady flow of the offense towards the opponents.

Guerrero joined Menjivar on the first-team All-SCC after providing a solid defense on the backline all season, especially during conference. Along with his excellent defensive skills, Guerrero had one goal and assisted his team twice.

Martinez rounded out the first-team honors for the Vikings with his quality one on one defense. Martinez showed his talents by starting in 21 games and held an assist against Compton College.

Raymundo starred as a seasoned midfielder for the Vikings. He demonstrated his impressive offensive skills with goals against Golden West and Rio Hondo. He was a major contributor to the team's impressive season start.

Figueroa-Flores earned his first second-team honors following a tremendous season in the cage. Figueroa- Flores totaled over 80 saves for the season after starting in 21 games. He was a leader on the field for the Vikings and earned a .824 save percentage for the season. Figueroa Flores was impressive in-between the two bars and demonstrated his athletic ability consistently with his skills.  

Mujica tallied his second consecutive All-SCC selection this year with his talents. Mujica scored his first goal of the season in the first game against Cerritos to tie the game. He also acquired four assists in conference this season.
