Men's Basketball: Vikings advance to Round 2 with 82-73 playoff win at Glendale

Long Beach (15-11 overall) advances to face No. 1 seed Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday (Feb. 26) at 7 p.m. on the Mounties' home court. In their lone meeting this season, Mt. SAC escaped the Hall of Champions Gym with an 81-71 South Coast Conference win on February 2.
Wednesday night's contest was close throughout as the lead changed hands 13 times while the score was tied nine times. Long Beach trailed Glendale 40-36 at halftime before surging in the second for the win.
Glendale was up 70-65 with 5:23 left before the Vikings made their final push. Sophomore center Kyle Clark (Lakewood HS) sank a pair of free throws and freshman forward Robert Mandingo (Dominguez HS) dropped in a pair of layups to tie the game 71-71 with 2:33 to go.
A minute later, Clark's layup with 1:25 remaining gave LBCC the lead for good at 74-73. LBCC sank six straight field goals down the stretch to secure the win.
Freshmen Jared Garber (Lakewood HS) and Mandingo both scored 11 second-half points to spark the rally. Garber closed the game with 16 points and six rebounds before fouling out. Clark posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Mandingo came off the bench to score 14 points and grab nine rebounds.
Glendale (18-11) went cold late in the second half. The Vaqueros missed their final 11 shots, including 10 three-point attempts. Glendale's last field goal of the game, a layup by Antonio Garrett, came with 8:50 remaining in the contest.
