The Vikings (13-13, 8-5 SCC) have now lost three straight and look to turn things around on Thursday (Apr 7) at 2:30 p.m. when the series heads to Long Beach. The set concludes on Saturday (Apr 9) at noon when it returns to Mt. SAC.
Mt. SAC (10-14, 6-6 SCC) rallied for three runs off LBCC sophomore starting pitcher Andy Hernandez (Paramount HS) in the bottom of the fourth.
Jacob Shirley started the rally with a one-out double and came in to score on a RBI single by Brian Seymour. Erik Martinez followed with a two-run homerun to provide all the offense the Mounties would need.
Long Beach scored its lone run in the top of the fourth. Sophomore first baseman Kenny Uyetake (Los Alamitos HS) hit a one-out single and advanced to third on a single by freshman left fielder Phil Visico (Wilson HS). Sophomore center fielder Joe Lent (Los Alamitos HS) delivered with a sacrifice fly to left to drive home the run.
Hernandez (3-3) went the distance in the loss. He allowed three runs and five hits over eight innings and struck out four.
Nico Calderaro earned the complete-game win to improve to 2-2. He allowed one run and five hits and struck out eight.
