June 11, 2014 LBCC to host memorial service for former head coach Bill Fraser on June 15 A memorial service to celebrate the life of former Long Beach City College men's basketball coach Bill Fraser will be held on Sunday, June 15 at the LBCC Hall of Champions Gym. Fraser passed away on April 18 at the age of 85. He served as head coach of the Vikings from 1973-90 and at the time of his retirement was the college's all-time winningest coach.
May 27, 2014 Baseball: Former Vikings Garcia, Flores playing for national championships A pair of former Long Beach City College baseball players are currently playing for national championships at the next level. Second baseman Derrick Garcia is playing in the NCAA Division II World Series for Colorado Mesa University while shortstop Avery Flores is at Oklahoma Wesleyan University playing in the NAIA World Series.
May 13, 2014 LBCC to honor Paul Chafe, Trevor Baker; Spots still available to play in Athletic Associates Golf Tournament Long-time former Long Beach City College coach Paul Chafe and former Viking golfer and current Virginia Country Club professional Trevor Baker will be honored by the LBCC Foundation at the 31st annual Athletic Associates Golf Tournament. The event is set for this Thursday, May 15 at Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach.
May 5, 2014 LBCC continues partnership with PrestoSports, launches Lids Sideline Store as part of website redesign Long Beach City College has relaunched its Athletics website, lbccvikings.com, as part of continuing its successful partnership with website and statistics provider PrestoSports. Along with the new website, LBCC has also partnered with Lids Team Sports to operate and manage its online apparel shop.
May 5, 2014 Edwards signs letter of intent to continue career at Alaska Fairbanks Former Long Beach City College guard Ashton Edwards has signed his National Letter of Intent and will continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Alaska Fairbanks this coming fall.

April 30, 2014 Vikings’ Ayala signs with Austin Peay, Rivas commits to Concordia of Michigan A pair of Long Beach City College sophomores will continue their academic and athletic careers this coming fall at four-year institutions. Pitcher Natalie Ayala has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Austin Peay State University while third baseman Melyssa Rivas has verbally committed to Concordia University of Michigan.
