November 17, 2014 Celebration of Life to honor former head coach Jim Stangeland to be held November 23 A Celebration of Life to honor Jim Stangeland, one of Long Beach City College's all-time greatest coaches as well as one of the best to come out of the city of Long Beach, will be held on November 23 from 12:30-3:00 p.m. in Room T-1200 at the LBCC Liberal Arts Campus (LAC).
November 16, 2014 Football: Vikings shut out of playoffs, host Golden West in Beach Bowl Despite an impressive 8-2 overall record and a win over previous top-ranked Mt. San Antonio College, the Long Beach City College football team was left out of the four-team Southern California playoffs. Instead, the Vikings will host Golden West College in the Beach Bowl to close out the 2014 season on Saturday, November 22. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
November 15, 2014 Men’s Water Polo: LBCC two wins from 10th state title, get South No. 2 seed for State Championships Two wins are all that stands in the way of the Long Beach City College men’s water polo team from capturing the Vikings’ second straight and 10th overall state championship. Despite falling in the Southern California Regional final on Saturday, LBCC has qualified for the 2014 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Water Polo State Championship at American River College. The two-day championship event is set for November 21-22 in Sacramento.

November 12, 2014 Men’s Basketball: Staton goes for 31 points in Vikings’ 69-66 win over Cypress Sophomore Brandon Staton scored a career-high 31 points to help lead the Long Beach City College men’s basketball team to a 69-66 win over Cypress College in the Vikings’ home opener at the Hall of Champions Gym on Wednesday.
