Viking Athletic Week in Review- 12/11/2017: Women’s Basketball Falls in Championship Game against Irvine Valley, Men’s Basketball Defeats Imperial Valley

Men's Basketball
The men's basketball team traveled to Imperial Valley College on Friday, Dec. 8 for a one-off game and won 66-51.

Men's basketball will play again on Tuesday, Dec. 12 in their third home game against Riverside City College at 6 p.m. To view the remaining season schedule, click here.

Women's Basketball
The women's basketball team participated in the Irvine Valley College Tournament over the weekend and advanced all the way to the championship game. The Vikings defeated the College of the Desert 64-42 in the first game, and then moved past Grossmont 71-41 in the second round.

 In the championship game against Irvine Valley, the Lasers took home the nail-biting victory by two points in the final eight seconds of the game. During the fourth quarter, the Vikings surpassed the Lasers with 11 seconds left in the game, but the Lasers rallied and came back by scoring a layup and a free throw with one second left on the clock to win the game. Sophomore guard Kendria Rendon was recognized to the All-Tournament Team for Long Beach with ten points and four steals.
