Long Beach City College athletics is proud to announce that two student athletes and one team will be honored by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) with scholar athlete awards for the 2010-11 academic year. Kyle Clark, Sarah Agopian, and the 2011 LBCC men's volleyball team will receive awards on Wednesday.
The outstanding tradition of Long Beach City College (LBCC) intercollegiate athletics will be recognized with the induction of its 11th class of members into the college’s Hall of Champions on Friday, March 23, in the Hall of Champions Gymnasium (Bld. R) of the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC), 4901 E. Carson St.
The 2012 Long Beach City College Hall of Champions Emeritus Induction ceremony is set for Friday, March 2 from 12-1:00 p.m. in the foyer of the Hall of Champions Gym at the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC). The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Three former Long Beach City College student-athletes, two current Vikings, and one former head coach will be honored by the Long Beach Century Club at their annual Sports Night Award Banquet. The banquet is set for February 7 at The Grand in Long Beach.
Long-time Long Beach City College track and field coach Baruch Elias passed away on December 6, 2011 at the age 90. Elias was a world-renowned track and field coach who served at LBCC for over 25 years.
Scott Butler (men’s water polo/swimming) and Sarah Agopian (women’s water polo) have been named the Long Beach City College male and female athletes of the year for the 2010-11 sports season. The pair was honored on Tuesday at LBCC’s annual Student-Athlete Orientation.
Long Beach City College has announced interim personnel changes directly connected with its successful athletics program. The interim positions are six-month assignments.
